Day 1 (Friday, Dec. 4)
Day 1 lays the clinical foundation for predictable, long-term aesthetic success. Dr. Hornbrook begins with bite registration techniques that give you greater control over treatment outcomes, followed by a comprehensive review of today’s restorative materials – how they’re classified, how they’re made, and when to use them.
You’ll also learn how to integrate PMMA long-term provisionals into full mouth rehabilitation and implant sequencing, keeping your patients well-supported throughout the process. Dr. Hornbrook then demystifies modern bonding agents – breaking down the generations, clarifying when to bond versus cement, and introducing bioactive cements and the role they play in supporting long-term tooth health.

Day 2 (Saturday, Dec. 5)
Day 2 builds on the foundation of Day 1, advancing into more specialized techniques across cosmetic dentistry and implantology. Dr. Hornbrook walks through veneer cementation and provisionalization step by step, and introduces his approach to achieving natural-looking anterior implant results using the “H” Abutment – including how to select the right abutment type and why cemented crowns often outperform screw-retained options in the anterior zone.
You’ll also explore newer implant designs that now make screw-retained restorations possible in cases where traditional methods fell short. Dr. Hornbrook then introduces a computer-assisted anesthesia delivery system that uses less anesthetic while preserving full lip mobility – allowing you to evaluate your patient’s smile design in real time, right in the chair.
The day closes with practical guidance on laboratory communication, giving you the tools to collaborate more effectively with your ceramist and deliver results that are both beautiful and functionally sound.

Day 1 (Friday):
Upon completion of Day 1, participants will be able to:
- Take a stable, muscle-driven bite registration and apply the “Freedom Appliance” to achieve a stable condylar position
- Evaluate Vertical Dimension of Occlusion (VDO) and sequence full mouth rehabilitation cases effectively
- Describe the role of functional posterior tooth anatomy in restorative treatment planning
- Classify aesthetic restorative materials and explain how each is fabricated, along with their limitations and potential complications
- Apply indications and contraindications for each aesthetic material type and identify appropriate preparation requirements
- Integrate PMMA long-term provisionals into implant site management and full mouth rehabilitation sequencing
- Trace the evolution of dentinal adhesion and compare the advantages and disadvantages of each adhesive generation
- Optimize bonding technique to reduce premature restoration failure and minimize post-operative sensitivity
- Select the most appropriate adhesive or luting system based on the ceramic restorative material being used
- Identify clinical scenarios appropriate for bioactive cements and describe their classification and benefits
Day 2 (Saturday):
Upon completion of Day 2, participants will be able to:
- Execute the “Tack & Wave” veneer cementation protocol to improve efficiency, predictability, and elimination of microleakage and post-operative sensitivity
- Apply the “Shrink-to-Fit” veneer provisional technique
- Use the “H” Abutment to achieve highly aesthetic anterior implant-supported restorations
- Provisionalize anterior implants to preserve and maintain soft tissue contours
- Compare cemented, screw-retained, and screwmentable implant-supported crowns and identify the appropriate indications for each
- Apply newer implant designs that expand screw-retained crown options beyond the limitations of traditional systems
- Administer the AMSA injection technique for precise, comfortable anesthetic delivery while maintaining full lip mobility during cosmetic treatment
- Communicate effectively with ceramists to refine anterior aesthetics and optimize smile design outcomes for the patient

David S. Hornbrook, DDS, FAACD, FASDA, FACE
Dr. David Hornbrook graduated from UCLA School of Dentistry and has been in private practice in San Diego, California for the past 36 years. He is a pioneer in live-patient esthetic dental treatment programs and was the founder and
He has lectured internationally on all facets of dentistry, including porcelain veneers, implants, dental materials, occlusion, and direct composites. He is the past editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and is an Accredited Fellow of the AACD, Fellow and Diplomate of the American Society of Dental Aesthetics, and a Fellow of the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics. He has also been honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards by both the Crown Council and the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics.
Dr. Hornbrook has developed numerous materials and techniques that are used daily by restorative dentists, has consulted with numerous dental manufacturers on dental materials, and currently serves as Clinical Director of Education and Technology at Utah Valley Dental Lab in Provo, Utah.
