ABOUT THE COURSE

This course is tailored for dental professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in clinical 3D printing technology and digital workflows. This 2 days workshop provides a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on experience, ideal for enhancing clinical practice efficiencies and expanding service offerings. Whether you’re looking to refine your skills or explore new technological advancements, this workshop will provide valuable knowledge and practical experience in the evolving world of clinical 3D printing.

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Day 1: Introduction to Clinical 3D Printing

The first day focuses on introducing participants to the foundational elements of 3D printing in dentistry. Attendees will begin with a guided tour of the SprintRay facility, followed by sessions on the history and basics of digital dentistry, material science innovations, and hands-on training in intraoral scanning and AI-assisted design. The day concludes with practical lessons on device maintenance and creative applications of 3D printing technologies. Day 1 is designed for any dentist interested in adapting digital technology as well as those who have recently acquired 3D Printing technology.

 

Day 2: Advanced Clinical 3D CAD and 3D Printing Digital Workflow

The second day delves into advanced applications, including comprehensive training on CAD software for designing dental restorations and demonstrations of cutting-edge printing technologies. Discussions will cover regulatory standards, workflow validation, and the comparative advantages of printed versus milled restorations. The seminar culminates in exploring future trends in dental 3D printing and direct print orthodontic appliances. Day 2 is designed for beginner to intermediate level 3D Printing dentists and team member.

 

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Attendees are required to bring their own PC (Please see minimum Spec Requirement) or Mac laptop with the following softwares installed:

  1. Medit Link (Free) available on com.
  2. Medit Applications (Free): Medit Design, Medit Splint, Medit ClinicCAD

Minimum Spec Requirements for the laptop and software:

  • Intel Core i7 CPU (i9 preferred)
  • Minimum 16G of RAM (32G preferred)
  • Minimum 100G of hard drive space needed
  • Nvidia GPU with 6GB of VRAM (3060, 3070, 3080, 4060, 4070, 4080)
  • A mouse with a middle button
  • Mac M2 notebook works as well (speaker will NOT be able to provide support on Mac system)
  • For those who DON’T already have a laptop, speaker recommends MSI GE series Raider laptops. (That’s what the speaker uses clinically).

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr. Steven Shao is a full-time practicing dentist based in Huntington Beach, California, where he works alongside his wife, Dr. Mai Ong. He serves as the Clinical Director of SprintRay Inc. and is the founder of Unicone Design Consulting. Dr. Shao is an member of the Caltech Associates and teaches 3D printing at UCLA. His extensive experience and pioneering contributions to digital dentistry make him a leading expert in the field. His passion for technology, aerospace engineering, automobile and architectural design fuels his drive to innovate dental technology.

 

Maggie Lim, DFS

Maggie Lim is a full-time Dental Auxiliary who collaborates closely with Dr. Shao. She holds the role of Design Fabrication Specialist, managing the entire digital workflow within clinical practice. Maggie Specializes in IOS scanning, CBCT, Face Scanning, CAD Design, CNC Milling, 3D Printing to advanced prosthesis finishing techniques. Maggie pioneered the Midas Multi multichromatic printed restoration method and is a recognized digital workflow trainer at universities in US and seminars in Japan.

  • Registrations are subject to a $100 non-refundable processing fee.
  • Cancellations made by email until 09/14/24 will receive a refund less the $100 processing fee.
  • Cancellations made 09/15/24 and after are completely non-refundable.
  • Transfer of a registration to another name will not be considered for this course.
