Course Description:

Over 80% of the millions of Americans that suffer from sleep disorders remain undiagnosed and untreated. In this two-day comprehensive symposium, you will learn how to properly identify and treat your patients who are suffering from snoring and sleep apnea. Now is the time to ensure that your practice is compliant with the recent policy by the American Dental Association to screen and treat all your patients who struggle with a sleep disorder breathing issue.

Course Objectives:

About the Speakers:

Rob Veis, DDS

Dr. Veis is the CEO of Space Maintainers Lab, a general dentist practicing since 1984, and a distinguished author and lecturer. Dr. Veis taught for 12 years at USC as a Clinical Professor and also served on the faculty of the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies. He is an internationally acclaimed lecturer on the topics of Dental Sleep Medicine, Orthodontics for the General Practice and Appliance Therapy. Dr Veis is the co-author of the Principles of Appliance Therapy for Adults and Children – considered one of the definitive texts on the subject.

Jerald H. Simmons, MD, D.ABPN, D.ABSM, D.ABCN

Dr. Simmons is a triple board-certified neurologist, from Washington University, specializing in sleep disorders and epilepsy and did his sleep Fellowship training at Stanford University Medical Center. Dr. Simmons has founded, co-founded and held the directorship of several preeminent Sleep Disorder centers, including UCLA Sleep Disorder Center, UCLA Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratory, Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital Sleep Disorders Center, The Sadler Clinic Sleep Disorders Center and Comprehensive Sleep Medicine Associates. He is an author of numerous publications in clinical journals including Sleep, Sleep Research, and Neurology, and the recipient of a variety of grants and funded research on topics related to sleep disorders. He is the Founding Director of the Sleep Education Consortium, a leading non-profit dedicated to educating both the medical and dental communities on working together to treat sleep disorders. Dr. Simmons currently directs Comprehensive Sleep Medicine Associates, a diagnostic and sleep therapy practice with locations throughout the greater Houston area and Austin, TX.

Joseph Z. Yousefian, DMD, MS, PS

Dr. Yousefian obtained his degree in dentistry from Washington University, in St. Louis and completed three years of post-graduate training in orthodontics at the Ohio State University. He received dual Masters of Science Degree in biology and physical anthropology. He is Diplomate of American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and is in private practice in Bellevue Washington. He is currently collaborating with several NIH (National Institute of Health) research projects in collaboration with the University of Washington, Minnesota and Alabama in the area of temporomandibular disorders, airway and open bite disorders. He has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Orthodontic Research Associate at the Ohio State University and University of Washington and is a guest lecturer at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He is an active lecturer nationally and internationally. He has contributed to over thirty publications in peer-reviewed scientific medical and dental journals and six textbooks. Dr. Yousefian is a consultant to several dental and orthodontic companies and is recognized for his innovative treatment techniques and philosophy in prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of related issues with temporomandibular disorders and obstructive sleep apnea in children and adults.

Payam Ataii, DMD, MBA

Dr. Ataii is an award-winning graduate of Tufts Dental School who has treated more than a thousand patients with clear aligner systems at his private practice in Laguna Hills, California. As winner of the Case Shootout and past Invisalign faculty member for more than 10 years, he was awarded the North America Align Educator of the Year in 2016 and was also awarded 2017 Contributor of the Year. He has trained dentists and their team members nationally and internationally, helping dental offices reap the rewards of modern technology for their patients. As an author, Dr. Ataii holds both national and international peer-reviewed awards and dental journal publications, as well as mainstream press and television. Over the years, he has presented lectures to thousands of his peers, sharing the results of his research and his innovative practice growth techniques. Dr. Ataii has developed and continues to develop solutions to improve and simplify how dentistry is delivered to patients. As a patent holder, he continues to innovate and invent dental and health solutions. He also serves on multiple company boards and is a recognized key opinion leader. He is a strong believer in the advantages of clear aligners and sleep oral appliances as monotherapy and combination therapy for improved overall health.

Sal Rodas, MBA

Mr. Rodas is the chief product officer for SleepArchiTx and the executive director for the Foundation for Airway Health. He is a published author, speaker, and dental and medical technology evaluator. Rodas has presented hundreds of hours of continuing education courses to dental and medical professionals, nationally and internationally, in the areas of sleep medicine, airway management, 3D technology, and  practice  growth.  Mr.  Rodas  has  over 15 years of professional senior level executive experience. Throughout his career, he has worked on innovative solutions with leading companies in the medical and dental sleep industry designed to help practices grow. His most recent assignment was as the chief strategic officer of a sleep diagnostics company. Previously, he led operations, sales, marketing, and service efforts as the COO for Space Maintainers Lab, an international organization with offices in the U.S. and abroad that serve the needs of dentists and orthodontists worldwide. At Space Maintainers Lab, Sal presided over the SMILE Foundation – the educational division of the company – organizing seminars nationwide with leading lecturers in the dental community. Sal earned his MBA from Babson College, holds a Bachelor of Information Technology, and served as a U.S. Marine.
